Easy lemonade scones in the air fryer

These lemonade scones are soft, fluffy, and incredibly simple to make with just a handful of ingredients. Using lemonade in the dough helps create a light texture while adding subtle sweetness, making these scones perfect for afternoon tea, weekend baking, or a quick homemade treat.

Cooking the scones in an air fryer gives them an evenly golden finish with a tender centre, without needing to turn on the oven. Serve them warm with clotted cream and jam for a classic bakery-style result at home.

Servings: 6–8 scones
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes
Total time: approx. 20 minutes
Appliance: Insrantpot Airfryer

Ingredients

  • 300 g plain flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 100 g double cream
  • 100 ml lemonade or lemon-lime soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 egg, beaten (for brushing)
  • Clotted cream, to serve
  • Jam, to serve

Preparation method

Prepare the air fryer basket
Cut a square of baking paper to fit inside the air fryer basket, leaving a small border around the edges so air can circulate freely.

Make the dough
Add the flour, baking powder, and salt to a large mixing bowl. Make a well in the centre and pour in the double cream and lemonade.

Using a spoon, gently mix until the dough starts to come together. Transfer to a lightly floured surface and knead briefly until just combined. Avoid overworking the dough to keep the scones soft and airy.

Shape the scones
Press the dough into a round disc approximately 3 cm thick. Using a floured 6 cm cutter, cut out the scones by pressing straight down without twisting.

Bake in the air fryer
Select Bake and set the temperature to 190°C for 10 minutes.

When the air fryer is ready, place the scones onto the prepared baking paper inside the basket. Position them close together so they lightly touch, which helps them rise evenly. Brush the tops with beaten egg.

Bake for 9–10 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.

Serve
Allow the scones to cool slightly before serving warm with clotted cream and jam.

Air fryer baking creates an even heat environment that helps scones rise beautifully while keeping the inside soft and tender. It’s a quick and efficient way to bake small batches without heating a full oven.
