Ultimate Steak Sandwich with Crispy Onion Rings

Ingredients

Crispy onion rings

  • 2 small onions, thinly sliced
  • 50 g flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Sauce

  • 15 g grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 2 tbsp natural yoghurt

Sandwich

  • 400 g steak
  • 60 g rocket (arugula)
  • Focaccia, halved
  • Oil, salt, and pepper to taste
     

Instructions

  1. Separate the onion slices into rings and discard the small inner cores. Toss with a little oil to lightly coat.
  2. Mix the flour and garlic powder. Toss the onion rings in the mixture until thinly coated.
  3. Air-fry at 120 °C for 20 minutes, shaking halfway, until light golden and crisp. (They will crisp further as they cool.)
  4. Meanwhile, combine all sauce ingredients in a bowl.
  5. Rub the steak with oil and season with salt and pepper. Air-fry at 205 °C for about 8 minutes for medium-rare (cook longer if you prefer it more done). Let rest for 2 minutes, then slice.
  6. Assemble the sandwich: spread the sauce generously on the focaccia, add the sliced steak, rocket (arugula), and crispy onions. Serve immediately.
