Crispy fresh-cut fries from the Air Fryer
Easy homemade fries recipe for the Instant Air Fryer
Craving homemade fries without the mess of deep frying? The Instant Air Fryer delivers golden, crispy fries using just a splash of oil. It’s a faster, cleaner, and healthier way to enjoy one of your all-time favorite snacks, and it all starts with fresh potatoes.
Servings: 3–4 portions
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 20 minutes
Total time: 30 minutes
Appliance: Instant Air Fryer
Ingredients
- 1 kg slightly floury potatoes (e.g. Agria, Yukon Gold)
- 1–2 tablespoons olive oil
- Sea salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- Optional: rosemary leaves (from 2 sprigs)
Preparation method
1. Prep the potatoes
Rinse the potatoes thoroughly under cold water, scrubbing the skins clean with a mushroom brush. You can peel them, but leaving the skin on adds extra texture and flavour.
Cut the potatoes into thick, even fries. Aim for uniform size to ensure even cooking.
2. Season and coat
Pat the fries dry using a clean towel or paper towels. This step is essential for crispiness.
Toss the fries in a large bowl with olive oil, a pinch of sea salt, freshly ground black pepper, and rosemary leaves if using. Mix well until evenly coated.
3. Air fry
Place the seasoned fries into the basket of your Instant Vortex Air Fryer. Select the Air Fry function, set the temperature to 210°C, and the time to 20 minutes.
Press Start, and halfway through (after 10 minutes), pull out the basket and give it a good shake. Return to the fryer to finish cooking.
4. Serve
When the timer ends, your fries should be crisp, golden, and ready to eat. If they need a little more colour, give them 2–3 extra minutes. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces
